In Kenya, this study builds on work by KDI in Kibera, Nairobi, with residents, governments, agencies and universities.
In India, the research team will focus on vulnerable settlements in Delhi, Patna, Thiruvanathapuram, Ernakulam, Kozhikode and Kalaburgi, drawing from previous work at IIHS on housing, decent work, infrastructure, social dynamics, disaster risk and climate change in several cities in India.
In Sierra Leone, the study builds on the experience of such participatory mapping and research from SLURC, in Freetown, on urban risk and vulnerability in Cockle Bay, Colbot and Moyiba.
In South Africa, the research team builds on previous work done by ACC on flooding in Cape town, urban health, and housing policies.
